Passed the GED test. Somehow got the 99th percentile in both science and social studies, and the 92nd in reading. Alas did my scores in math and writing drag my overall score down.

Still, I passed. Now I can focus on actually going to college.

Silent Hill: Homecoming completed.

Fun gameplay, likable characters, and an incredibly dark, depressing, and plot twisty storyline make it my favorite in the series easily.

Chris knows how to throw a cook out party. Beer pong makes for a great spectator sport.

That's all I'm willing to share about what happened there however. ^^;

Some people are complaining about (General Manager)Ray Shero.

Remember, when Shero walks to work every morning, he'll look up and see an Atlantic Division banner, two Eastern Conference Champion Banners, and a Stanley Cup banner.

Most people go to work, look up, and see asbestos.

Other news: New Bleach has plot movement. New Naruto has devious Danzo. I like.

- Test went fine, except for math. God, did I suck that section up. Hopefully got enough correct to get a passing grade.

- Penguins signed Craig Adams and more importantly Bill Guerin today. If it ain't broke...

- I have ill-disguised contempt for anyone who plays an undub version of a game.

- The latest chapter of Simulacrum is easily the most depressing and creepy thing I've read in quite awhile.

- Considering most of my posts are one sentence long, I'm considering getting Twitter. God help me.

Local shock jock Mark Madden pointed out something incredibly interesting today on his show, and I feel I must reiterate it.

New York Giants wide receiver Plexico Burress brought a handgun into a nightclub, shot himself in the thigh, and everybody castrates him.

Meanwhile, Dante Stallworth of the Cleveland Browns gets drunk, runs over and kills someone, and gets a month in jail, and nobody cares.

To recap: Both are idiots, but one idiot only harmed himself, the other killed another human being. The former gets his ass handed to him, the latter gets away relatively unscathed.

Am I missing something?

I believe ThePensBlog put it best:

No matter where you look, you see people that are doubting the Pittsburgh Penguins.

They point to Detroit's 11-1 home record this postseason.
They tell you that 12 of the 14 game sevens in Stanley Cup history have been won by the home team.
They state that the Red Wings' experience and skill will be too much for the Penguins to overcome on Friday night.

To be honest, when you look at the numbers, those people are right.
When you look at historical evidence, those people are right as well.

The Pittsburgh Penguins will be in the fight of their lives on Friday night.

But, to state that they will fail just because the odds are against them is ludicrous.
If you've read this far you have already seen how many odds the Pittsburgh Penguins franchise has overcome to get to where they are today.

But everything we just said is only historical evidence.
In the grand scheme of things something that happened ten years ago has no relevance today, even if the players were wearing black and gold.
All that matters is what has happened to THIS team, the 2008-2009 edition of the Pittsburgh Penguins.
If you want to talk about facing down adversity and succeeding, this team is an outstanding example.

During the offseason the Penguins lost a lot of talent.
Marian Hossa, Ryan Malone, Gary Roberts, Ty Conklin, Adam Hall, Jarko Ruutu and Georges Laraque all suited up for different teams to start this season.
The media immediately jumped all over it.
They said that the turnover was too much.
They said that the Pittsburgh Penguins could not possibly succeed without those players.
When Sergei Gonchar injured his shoulder in the preseason the world had already written this team off.

The Pittsburgh Penguins opened the season with one of the best records in franchise history.

And then there was the "runner-up jinx."

The Penguins and their fans were repeatedly told how difficult it would be to succeed after losing in the Stanley Cup Final the year before.

And those warnings were correct.
It was difficult.
It was extremely difficult.
In fact, by February it looked like the pundits were right.
The Pittsburgh Penguins were in tenth place in the Eastern Conference.
Michel Therrien had been fired.
Ryan Whitney had been traded.
Everyone assumed that the Pittsburgh Penguins would miss the playoffs.
They had their "I told you sos" ready.

The Pittsburgh Penguins finished fourth in the Eastern Conference.

They were told they could not match the Philadelphia Flyers and their six 25 goal scorers.
They defeated them in six games.
After dropping the first two games in the Verizon Center, critics gave the Penguins no hope against the Washington Capitals and "the best player in the NHL by far."
The Penguins beat the Capitals 6-2 in Washington in game seven.
Cam Ward was the hottest goaltender in the playoffs. His record against the Pittsburgh Penguins was stellar.
The "Cardiac Canes" fell in four games.

The Pittsburgh Penguins then entered a familiar scenario.
They lost the first two games of the Stanley Cup Final in Detroit.
The world was ready to start engraving the Red Wings' names on the Cup.
The Pittsburgh Penguins fought back and evened up the series.

Then they lost 5-0 in Detroit in game five.
You could ask every sports commentator in the world what their thoughts were and 99% of them would have said "Detroit in six."

Friday night is game seven.

Over the last few days Penguins fans have been given a million reasons why the Red Wings will dominate tomorrow night's game.

None of them matter.

Every time this team has been told they can't, they respond with one phrase:

Yes We Can.

If I could offer a piece of advice to the Pens, it would be this: Score first. It doesn't matter when, it doesn't matter how. Score first. And then score again. There is a snowball's chance in hell that Detroit stays off the score sheet. I know scoring has been a problem in Detroit recently, but it doesn't matter. This game is for the f-ing Stanley Cup. Get it done.

Let's go Pens.

Much like Varlamov's weakness was his glove hand side in a previous series, I'm wondering if Osgood's is long slapshots. All the goals we scored last night were off one of those. Something to think about, anyway.

On the other side of things, we *cannot* have another second period like that. The Wings rarely do not capitalize on shit like that.

Yeah, we lost. Despite feeling kind of sick to my stomach about it, I'm not freaking out. We had lots of good chances, and often took the game to them. It was pretty even most of the game. In the end, they got some lucky bounces and we didn't. Shit happens. Let's get it done tonight.

Red Wings-Penguins 2.0

They lambasted us for most of the series last year. The key differences this year seem to be they have some injury problems - although considering Detroit's depth, that really doesn't seem to matter - and our guys are a year older and a year wiser, and not suffering from their own injuries.

That said, this will *not* be easy. Detroit is the modern day NHL dynasty for a reason. They have big names at every position, and big names to back up every position. Their forwards play excellent defense, especially Zetterberg. Their defensive scheme makes it seem as if there's at least ten men on the ice at any given time. They do what we do, only better: Crowd the offensive zone and get pucks to the net. When it doesn't go in, chip it in on the rebound. Which is a problem since Fluery, as much as I love him, tends to give up big rebounds.

In other words, Detroit is the dragon guarding Lord Stanley's cup. Slaying them won't be easy, but we have a much better chance to do so this year. Let's get it done.

Let's go Pens.
